Solvay Group Announces 22 Million Dollar Investment

Advanced Materials and Specialty Chemicals company to invest 22 Million Dollars

MOUNT PLEASANT, Tenn. — The Solvay Group along with the Maury County Chamber and Economic Alliance announced today that the company will invest 22 Million dollars in its existing facility in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee over the next five years.

“Expansion of our existing industries is essential to the economic vitality of Maury County.” Wil Evans, Maury Alliance President stated, “We know our local industries and helping them expand is critical to the health of our county. Solvay has been a great corporate citizen and we are extremely pleased to have a part in its continued growth. We also must thank our partners at the Maury County Industrial Development Board, without them this project would not have been possible.”

“The Mount Pleasant site is critical to the success of the Mining Solutions business as its products are shipped all over the world. This investment will allow Solvay to continue to improve the infrastructure of the site, supporting the long-term sustainability of our operations. Solvay will use capital investment to upgrade our infrastructure, improve the reliability of our existing equipment and enhance our overall productivity, to ensure that Mt. Pleasant remains a competitive producer of specialty products to the mining industry,” Travis Martin, Industrial Director stated.

Solvay’s Mount Pleasant, TN facility supports Solvay by producing specialty products for the copper mining industry. The site has 108 employees dedicated to working safely and producing high quality products for specialty applications and is one of the only facilities in the world producing the materials.

“I want to congratulate Solvay on its decision to invest 22 million dollars into its operation in Maury County,” Andy Ogles, Maury County Mayor stated. “The mining solutions business has had a long history in our county and has been a great partner. I appreciate Solvay for its continued partnership with Maury County and look forward to seeing the company continue to succeed.

As part of their comprehensive plan, upgrades to existing machinery will allow expansion capabilities for new products and applications. The company will also invest in infrastructure, including emergency power equipment, electrical distribution systems, and water treatment and storage systems, and upgrade steel, roads, and railway infrastructure. These investments will ensure that Mt. Pleasant remains a competitive producer of specialty products to the mining industry.

Mount Pleasant and Maury County are represented by Sen. Joey Hensley (R – Hohenwald), Rep. Sheila Butt (R – Columbia) and Rep. Michael Curcio (R – Dickson) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
