Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam praised Maury County’s educational progress during a speech to the Kiwanis Club on March 3.
“This is a phenomenal number,” Haslam said of the county’s 32 percent increase in college readiness scores. “It is way outside the number of norms in improvement. Maury County is a great example of what is going on. I did not want to pass up this opportunity to congratulate you.”
Haslam also called Maury’s one-point ACT score increase “really impressive” and pointed to the county as an example of the educational growth his administration has encouraged across the state.
“The thing we have focused on most since we’ve come into office has been education,” Haslam said. “It is truly a state and local partnership.”
