>>UPDATE the deadline has been extended to November 1st and Maury County needs 9 more mentors.
With just two weeks until the mentor recruitment deadline, tnAchieves still needs more than 3,300 volunteer mentors to support the TN Promise Class of 2023! 46 Mentors are still needed in Maury County and the deadline to apply is October 21st, 2022..
tnAchieves mentors will play a critical role in helping to reverse negative enrollment trends seen during the pandemic. In the past two years, Tennessee has seen a nine percentage point decline in the state’s college-going rate, representing 7,000 fewer students entering the college pipeline. Maury County has seen an 14 percentage point decline in college going. Less than half, only 48%, of all high school graduates in Maury County go to college right after high school.
In 2023, tnAchieves is reinventing its mentor program to confront this challenge head-on! Mentors will meet their students in person and will have more time than ever before to connect with their group! Please consider being a mentor for the Class of 2023! Click here to learn more and apply.
tnAchieves mentors commit one hour per month to serve as a task manager, resource and encourager for local high school seniors. Mentoring takes just one hour per month, but makes a significant difference in a student’s ability to realize their full potential! All mentors receive a training and handbook guide to the program. Mentors also have access to the tnAchieves team throughout the year for support and guidance.
