SPRING HILL — Middle Tennessee science teachers were hard at work last week learning new attention-grabbing experiments during an American Society for Metals Materials Camp at the Northfield Workforce Development and Conference Center.
Stepping into the shoes of their own students, the teachers listened to lectures and took part in experiments all related to material science, an interdisciplinary subject which includes studies in physics and chemistry.
During the week-long program the teachers conducted experiments which included creating crystals using corn starch and water, molding plastic paperclips and blowing glass. The exercises are designed to give students a greater understanding of solids, metals, glass, ceramics and polymers. Click here to read more…
