What launched with about 1,000 potted sprigs of grass at Spring Hill High School on July 29 quickly evolved this academic year into a pro-education campaign with statewide reach – breathing new life into local community sentiment about Maury County Public Schools, thanks to the investment by local business leaders in collaboration with the Maury County Chamber &Economic Alliance.
“The Grass is Greener Where You Water It” campaign – known in social media by the hashtag #GrowMaury – officially kicked off with the start of the 2015-16 school year.
In five short months, the campaign has generated millions in audience impressions and engagement through news and social media, and it has placed Maury County Public Schools on the radar screen as a system that’s forging widespread, positive change, with such entities as tnAchieves, the State Collaborative on Reforming Education (SCORE), Tennessee Promise, and several state agencies as well as Gov. Bill Haslam’s office.
