General Motors will start producing a second SUV at its Spring Hill plant, the Detroit-based automaker said Tuesday.
GM said it will move production of its GMC Acadia, a popular midsize SUV, from its Lansing, Mich., operation to Spring Hill’s assembly plant — the former Saturn facility that has seen revived investment and commitment from GM in recent years.
Those investments, much like those made by Nissan North America at its Murfreesboro plant, have spurred a flurry of additional investments and new auto-related jobs in Middle Tennessee by GM automotive suppliers, which bode well for the region and state’s economy. Read more…
