Story by Kellye Murphy – Visit Columbia TN
Columbia, Tn (Nov 2019) – This holiday season kicks off with the dazzling ‘Night of Light’ tree lighting festivities in downtown Columbia, Tennessee on Saturday, November 23rd at 5pm. The second annual ‘It’s Christmas in Columbia’ Night of Light celebration adorning Columbia’s beautiful town square is presented by community partner Stan McNabb of Columbia.
This family-friendly event is expected to fill the streets of downtown Columbia with thousands of happy faces, endless holiday cheer, food trucks and live music by special guest artists culminating with the lighting of Columbia’s 40’ Christmas tree by Santa Claus himself. This year’s musical entertainment, presented by superstar host in his own right, Blair Garner, offers twice the excitement with special guests: Guy Penrod and country music duo High Valley.
Guy Penrod, a Grammy and Dove award-winning artist and former lead singer with the acclaimed Gaither Vocal Band, will take center stage to entertain the masses at the Night of Light. His signature look and rasp-tinged country-style vocals add to his big stage presence and engaging personality that reflect Guy Penrod’s popularity as a world-renowned artist.
His DVD release, The Best of Guy Penrod, was certified platinum by the RIAA and highlights some of Guy’s musical history while giving viewers a glimpse of daily life at the home and farm of Guy and his family. Blessed Assurance is his latest release with hymns chosen personally by Guy because of their power to touch and renew the soul.
Warner Music Nashville’s High Valley is the powerhouse duo comprised of brothers Brad and Curtis Rempel. After scoring countless Juno Awards, Canadian Country Music Awards, and even the Album of the Year in their home country of Canada the brothers are bringing their unique brand of music to America.
2019 saw High Valley receive a nomination for the coveted ACM New Artist of the Year Award. And a legion of dedicated fans continues to support the brothers as they follow up their top-ten hit “She’s With Me” with “Single Man.” The buzz within the country-music tastemaker community continues to build for High Valley, with seasoned veterans calling them the duo to watch in 2020.
Returning as popular host and emcee for the ‘Night of Light’ celebration, Blair Garner is a nationally syndicated country radio personality and captain of industry, dominating the airwaves for more than 30 years. Garner is also the man with a vision. As founder of The Mulehouse, his vision for a new, world-class entertainment venue located just one block from downtown Columbia is taking shape to become the unrivaled entertainment experience in Tennessee. The Mulehouse is slated to open in December 2020.
“Those of us who live in Columbia realize just how blessed we are to call it our home, Garner commented. “It’s our perfect piece of The American Dream — fertile soil in which our families are cultivating a lifetime of memories. Children will forever remember Santa’s flipping the switch on our beautiful Christmas tree. I watched it happen last year – kids’ eyes filled with wonder and joy. And for us adults, the feeling of community experienced at the Night of Light underscores our fundamental belief that what we have in Columbia is special indeed. I hope everyone will join us for a night to remember, Columbia’s Night of Light.”
In addition to presenting sponsor, Stan McNabb of Columbia, this event is made possible by the support of these community partners: Columbia Power & Water Systems, Maury Regional Health Care, Lee Company, Beck Dental Care, Caledonian Financial, & Columbia Machine Works.
