or other roles as needed.
THE PROGRAM:
CONTENT AND METHOD
Leadership Maury consists of one weekend retreat in October and seven topic oriented one- day seminars. The retreat provides structured exercises and presentations which explore theories of leadership and personal power, as well as decision-making through group discussion, analysis, and probing. The one-day seminars focus individually on a major area of community concern and explore the issues of leadership within the context of the day's subject.
Each session is carefully designed to present a wide range of opinions and perspectives to encourage thoughtful discussion through lectures, panel presentations, and a variety of group activities. Participants are given the opportunity to explore controversial issues with leaders representing a broad range of community interests.
The goal of each day is to open the mind of each participant to the perspectives that surround each issue and, through thoughtful consideration of those perspectives, enable participants to become more visionary leaders in the community.
Attendance at the retreat in October is mandatory. Thereafter, 85% attendance is required to be entitled to graduate from this program. A total commitment of time is required to achieve a complete education in each subject area. A participant should plan on each program starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. and ending at approximately 5:00 p.m.
TUITION
Tuition for the program is $550 per participant. Up to $550 of the tuition may be paid by the participant's employer or sponsoring organization. A limited number of partial scholarships may be available to applicants.

Youth Leadership Maury (YLM) is a countywide program for high school juniors designed to foster leadership skills. Young leaders are introduced to the different elements, which interact to form a strong and dynamic community.
The primary objectives of YLM are:
Ø To identify students who have potential leadership qualities and desire to use them for the good of their community.
Ø To give participants the opportunity to interact with community leaders and decision makers.
Ø To present programs that will allow participants to become familiar with the various needs, opportunities, resources and problems of Maury County
YLM will give participants chances to explore situations and locations within the county and may include field trips to other sites related to the topic for that session.
